How Can I Be Saved?
Making the decision to give your life to God is the most important decision you will ever make. It decides where you spend eternity, heaven or hell.
Sin separates us from God, and we are all born sinners.
“for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,” Romans 3:23
We cannot do anything to save ourselves.
We cannot save ourselves by being a good person, by doing good works, or by attending church. We need a Savior.
“For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9
God gave us the solution to the problem of sin.
God’s own Son, Jesus, became a man, lived a sinless life, and died on the cross. This selfless act paid the price for our sins. He was resurrected on the third day.
“For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,” 1 Corinthians 15:3-4
“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8
“He who was delivered over because of our transgressions, and was raised because of our justification.” Romans 4:25
Receive God into your heart.
Approach God
1) by understanding you are a sinner
2) by understanding no human work can save you
3) by realizing it is by faith alone, in Christ alone, that you can receive salvation
4) believe in God and put your faith in Him.
According to Acts 16:30-31, someone asked the Apostle Paul, “…what must I do to be saved?” and Paul replied, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved,…”
“’For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him. He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.’” John 3:16-18
Turn from Sin
Turn towards God and away from sin.
“Let the wicked forsake his way And the unrighteous man his thoughts; And let him return to the LORD, And He will have compassion on him, And to our God, For He will abundantly pardon.” Isaiah 55:7
God promises you salvation.
“that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.” Romans 10:9-10
You have an eternal home in heaven.
“’Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life.’” John 5:24
