Making the decision to give your life to God is the most important decision you will ever make. It will determine whether you spend eternity in heaven or hell.
Sin separates us from God, and we are all born sinners.
“for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,” Romans 3:23 (NKJV)
We cannot do anything to save ourselves.
We cannot save ourselves by being a good person, by doing good works, or by attending church. We need a Savior.
“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9 (NKJV)
God gave us the solution to the problem of sin.
God’s own Son, Jesus, became a man, lived a sinless life, and died on the cross. This selfless act paid the price for our sins. He was resurrected on the third day.
“For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures,” 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 (NKJV)
“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8 (NKJV)
“Now it was not written for his sake alone that it was imputed to him, but also for us. It shall be imputed to us who believe in Him who raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead, who was delivered up because of our offenses, and was raised because of our justification.” Romans 4:23-25 (NKJV)
Receive God into your heart.
Approach God
1) by understanding you are a sinner
2) by understanding no human work can save you
3) by realizing it is by faith alone, in Christ alone, that you can receive salvation
4) believe in God and put your faith in Him
According to Acts 16:30-31, someone asked the Apostle Paul, “…what must I do to be saved?” and Paul replied, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved,…”
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. 'He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.'"John 3:16-18 (NKJV)
Turn from Sin
Turn towards God and away from sin.
“Let the wicked forsake his way, And the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the LORD, And He will have mercy on him; And to our God, For He will abundantly pardon.” Isaiah 55:7 (NKJV)
God promises you salvation.
"that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." Romans 10:9-10 (NKJV)
You have an eternal home in heaven.
“'Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.'"John 5:24 (NKJV)
